Who is Weima?

Weima Maschinenbau GmbH is a German family-owned company that manufactures machines for shredding and briquetting residual materials. The name Weima is composed of the first letters of Weinsberger Maschinenfabrik. While the company focused on the production of industrial wood shredders when it was founded in 1980, its portfolio now includes shredding solutions for all input materials. Weima has also long since ceased to operate only in Germany. In addition to the production sites in Ilsfeld in and Annaburg, Weima Maschinenbau GmbH also operates sales and service locations worldwide, for example in the USA, Great Britain and India.

In addition to single and multi-stage shredders for industry and trade, the company also produces briquetting presses that process input material into highly compacted briquettes. Both - shredders and briquetting presses - are precisely matched to the respective raw material. Weima Maschinenbau GmbH offers both stand-alone units and complete systems. The manufacturer from Ilsfeld also offers all chippers, briquetting presses and the like as used equipment.

Shredding solutions from Weima
A range of different machine types enables the optimal shredding of wood, plastic, paper, metal or biomass. Among single-shaft shredders, horizontal roller shredders, pre-shredders, post-shredders, impact crushers, granulators, universal shredders or four-shaft shredders, you will find the right shredder.

The manufacturer Weima offers shredders that specialize in only one material, as well as those that are universally suitable for several waste materials.

Wood
Old timber, wooden tables, wood chips or chipboard: Weima's wood shredders can utilize all processing forms of the raw material. Machines specially designed for wood processing are the WL 600, WLH and Holzwolf. The Holzwolf is particularly suitable for pallets or bulky furniture. The horizontal wood chippers of the WLH series turn residual wood into chips. The WL 600 chipper is a basic unit that can process all wood residues, including hard wood. Proven chippers that are suitable for paper waste as well as wood waste are the Weima WL4 - 8 and Weima WL 10-20 single-shaft chippers.

The WL 4 single-shaft shredder s already in successful operation in thousands of small and medium-sized companies worldwide. This machine boasts a working width of 600 mm, a rotor diameter of 252 mm with two rows of cutting knives, segmented floor guide and up to 18.5 kW drive power. This ensures that wood waste of all kinds can be easily shredded, whether it’s hardwood, softwood, plywood, used waste wood or OSB and MDF residuals.

Metal
Metal is a material that can be recycled almost endlessly. To do this, it is crushed, melted and reprocessed. However, the shredding of metal requires robust machines that can process not only light metal such as cans, but also bulky, heavy and abrasive metal parts. The ZM four-shaft shredder, for example, is a suitable shredder for this. For light metal, for example aluminium, the WMS 600 metal shredder is also suitable. Stamping waste, profiles or metal chips often come from industry. These residual materials can also be recycled well.

Paper
Paper recycling plays an important role, especially from an ecological point of view. If old paper is recycled, less wood has to be used for paper production. Whether paper waste from consumers or from industry - machines from Weima shred waste paper, cardboard or production waste. The paper shredders can therefore be used for all types and quantities of this input material. Depending on the requirements, the single-shaft shredders of the WLK series are used here, for example - from WLK 6 S to WLK Super Jumbo. The Allrounder model ZM is also suitable.

Producing paper products generates a lot of waste. In the classic recycling cycle, the production waste or surplus is shredded and then returned to the production process. The Munich start-up company easy2cool has a different but equally sustainable use for paper waste. Using a WEIMA WLK 1500 Shredder, revolutionary and sustainable insulating elements are made from corrugated cardboard packaging. With a working width of 1500 mm and a 368 mm rotor diameter, the WLK 1500 single-shaft shredder shreds the paper bales and cardboard without any difficulty. The logspacer hopper design allows large pieces to be shredded without material building up, which increases the efficiency of the shredder. The WLK Series shredders can be fitted with either the universal V-rotor or the F-rotor developed specially for film and fibers. In addition, a vautid wear protection coating is available as an option for particularly abrasive materials. Both rotor variants have a diameter of approx. 370 mm.

Plastics
The plastic shredders from Weima Maschinenbau GmbH can be used for all types of plastic - from PVC to PET. Even large-volume parts, fibres, buckets or films are no problem for Weima's chippers. The WSM granulator or the WKS and WLK single-shaft shredders are especially suitable for plastics. Weima offers machines for the efficient shredding of post-consumer plastic waste as well as for industrial residues such as chunks or moulded parts. The machines can also shred robust plastics such as Kevlar or carbon. Different rotors and cutting tools enable the plastic shredders to cope with the various tasks.

Waste
Waste as a generic term combines all secondary raw materials that are post-consumer or industrial waste. Weima has three machines in its portfolio that can shred everything from household waste to bulky waste to commercial waste and thus contribute to the production of substitute fuels. Weima's waste shredders are capable of producing both medium and high calorific refuse-derived fuels. The PreCut pre-shredder, the PowerLine universal shredder and the FineCut post-shredder are designated waste shredders. These chippers from Weima Maschinenbau GmbH are characterized by high throughput rates and versatility. Weima offers the waste shredders both as individual machines and as complete recycling plants. For conversion into substitute fuels, pre-sorting and metal separation are necessary in addition to shredding the waste. The finished output then serves as fuel for combined heat and power plants.

The PowerLine 3000 is one of the largest and most powerful shredding machines of the machinery manufacturer from Ilsfeld. It not only shreds commercial waste, industrial waste, bulky or household waste, but also paper, wood residues or carpet materials. As a single-stage operation or as part of a plant, it accepts a wide variety of input materials, including contaminated substances. The highly efficient single-shaft shredder shreds almost any waste. After sorting out materials that are not suitable for RDF, the pre-shredded material can be processed perfectly in the secondary shredding process and ensures an optimum result in the extraction of valuable secondary raw materials. Intelligent and energy-saving disposal technologies play an important role at Weima and are more in demand today than ever before.

Machine Features

The swing arm technology, which is located in the cutting chamber, works significantly faster and requires considerably less work. The advantage here is the optional secondary feeding system for materials with low bulk density.

Another significant feature is the optimized design. This means that the swing arm can be extended upwards from the machine frame, greatly simplifying accessibility and making maintenance easier. The high degree of individualisation continues with the adaptive design of the base frame.

Direct filling takes place via an optimally designed low loading edge by conveyor belt, gripper or directly via wheel loader and is therefore easy to operate.

Another outstanding feature is the outward-opening, swivelling screen basket for optimum and safe maintenance work. The multi-part screen inserts are freely exchangeable inside and outside.

Drive Options

Depending on the application, two different drive concepts can be selected – the hydraulic drive or the torque drive, which is equipped with a safety clutch.

Wherever highly contaminated material is to be shredded, hydraulic drives have the decisive advantage: Since they do not have a classic gearbox that is subject to wear during impacts, they are quicker to react and less sensitive to impurities.

Briquette presses
Weima offers a comprehensive range of briquetting presses. With us you will find the right briquette press for every task, however demanding. Simply filter according to your criteria and you will receive a solution perfectly matched to your industry and application. The Weima TH series offer multi talents for high-density 50 - 9m mm briquettes.
